Practical
Flower Boxes and the 2-Box Minimum
Understanding the box is the fastest way to understand how flower trade pricing and logistics work.

Why the trade counts in boxes
Flowers are bought, packed, flown and charged per box. Freight is calculated on box dimensions and weight, so the box is the unit that makes the whole chain predictable. Once you think in boxes, ordering becomes simple.
Common box formats
Air-freight cartons are broadly split into half-length and full-length boxes, with different depths for tall or bulky products. A tall box takes long-stem roses or delphinium; a shallower one is used for shorter stems and smaller flowers.
- Long-stem roses (60–80 cm): full-length carton
- Tulips, ranunculus and short stems: shorter carton
- Hydrangea and peonies: deeper carton for head volume
- Greenery: bulky but light, volume decides the count
The 2-box minimum, explained
Two boxes is the smallest quantity where air freight and clearance still make commercial sense per stem. In value that is roughly €600 in flowers, excluding freight and local delivery. Below that, the fixed costs per stem climb steeply and the order stops being good value for you.
Inside those two boxes you are free: mix varieties, colours and lengths as long as the products are compatible in packing and temperature.
Scaling up from there
Most customers grow from 2 boxes to a fixed weekly volume within a month or two, then add extra boxes when they have a wedding or an event booked.
Web-Flora supplies florists, wedding and event professionals, hotels and premium retailers in Saudi Arabia with fresh Dutch flowers. Minimum order is 2 boxes (around €600), shipments leave the Netherlands weekly, and Ahmed Frindi is your direct personal contact.
